Thrive came about when

a few dope people of color

realized that there were not enough people who looked like us practicing therapy, while there were many women of all backgrounds and men of color who were seeking out therapy. All of us,

the firsts in our family to graduate college and thriving in our careers,

realized that there was a need for therapists who were able to overcome their own obstacles and

share their skills with others.

Founder/Clinical Director/Therapist

Briahn (Bri) Badelle is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 10 years of experience working with adolescents and adults in the Bay Area.  An Oakland native, Briahn has worked as a trauma medical social worker at a local county trauma center as well as at other Bay area hospital and has also worked at various non-profits and schools in the Bay Area. Some of the folks Bri works with are working through challenges in their daily lives from trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, dealing with life transitions, work stress, family and relationship issues, as well as navigating day to day stressors.

In 2017, Bri decided to attempt to address the need for therapists from traditionally oppressed communities and opened Thrive Oakland, a multi-cultural, inclusive therapy practice in Oakland. Thrive Oakland specializes in working with those who are new the therapy, folks who are more comfortable working with a therapist who identifies as part of a traditionally marginalized community and those who are learning how to navigate everyday stressors through a multicultural lens.

Some of Briahn’s specialties are working with teens (typically 15+), young adults, women and a particular interest in working with men of color (particularly Black/brown/Indigenous), who all need help with handling life transitions, grief, anxiety, stress, race based trauma, imposter syndrome and everything else that can come up when living as person of color (particularly Black, Indigenous and brown folx) with multiple identities in America.

When you've tried the barbershop and hair salon and haven't come up with any answers, come see me so we can find out the answer together- Bri

Many traditionally marginalized communities are often conditioned to just push through to achieve their goals with the “you have to do twice as well to be considered half as good” mentality. At Thrive, we want to help you figure out how to reach success without sacrificing who you are or burning out. We’re here to help you learn how to THRIVE!
